The hardest part in creating your gift basket is to know whom you’re shopping for and to have an idea of what they like. Once you have those two items checked off the rest is relatively simple. The following will give you some great gift basket ideas for various hobbies etc.

The Cook – When shopping for a cook try to create a gift basket that will include at least one large cooking item. It could be a pot, a cookie sheet, strainer, almost anything. The reason you want something a bit larger is that it will serve as your “basket”. Next fill your “basket” with various cooking utensils, cookbooks, and even a few seasonings. The selection can range from the very basic to the very exotic. The choice is up to you.

The Gourmet – this one is pretty easy, you can choose to get a basket, or a large bowl or serving dish, fill it with gourmet foods, things you know the person will enjoy. You can put their favorite wine, some cheeses, and gift cards to a gourmet store in the area. Again it is up to you to decide what to put in it and how much you want to spend.

The Coffee Connoisseur – This person is going to be pretty easy as well. Get a few unique coffee mugs, put some gourmet coffees, espressos and specialty mixes in this basket, you can use a basket for this as well, or better yet a serving tray can serve as your base.

The Lottery Player – Now this one is very easy. You can buy them a year’s subscription to the Lottery; purchase a bunch of instant tickets. Put some extra things in there, doesn’t have to be expensive, it could be as simple as a few packages of their favorite candy or coffee.

The Bookworm – For this person you want to have an idea of what types of books they like to read. Shopping for someone who enjoys reading can be a bit tricky, so if you’re not sure exactly what to buy them, get them gift cards. Gift cards can be put into baskets too. You can include some snack type foods or packages of cocoa or coffee for those cold winter nights when they are up reading. How about a blanket to curl up with in their favorite spot, be it the couch, a chair or even in bed.

These are just a few ideas to get you started. To finish your basket buy some colorful cellophane at your local arts and crafts store, wrap your basket in the cellophane and put a nice big bow on it. Voila, your basket is not only unique, but it looks great too!
